Walk the halls of Legacy Village at Park Regency these days, and you’ll catch a current of something special—an undercurrent of pride, hope, and love that pulses quietly but powerfully through the community. Residents gather, not just to watch a television show, but to cheer on one of their own: J.W. Griffin, a grandson, a singer, a rising star on The Voice.

For some, J.W. is a name in the spotlight, a voice that reaches across the nation with a story to tell. For Mary Jo Taylor—known simply and lovingly as “Nana”—he is something far deeper: he is the son of her daughter Stacy, and part of a family that also includes her daughter, JoBeth, a grandson she has loved fiercely since he took his first breath, and one of four precious souls who fill her heart with joy.

When people see Nana around town, they often say, “You must be so proud of J.W.!” And with a tender smile, she gently corrects them: “I’m proud of both my grandsons, and my granddaughters.” Mary Jo’s love is quiet but deep. She has always put others first without making a fuss about it. She often expresses gratitude—not just for her grandchildren, but for the men who stand beside her daughters and their children, John Griffin and Plenn Hunnicutt, who love their families fiercely and well. This spirit of love and care shapes everything Mary Jo does. Sophie, Wheeler, and Kilby—all are wrapped in her love just as tightly as J.W. Each one a unique light in her life, each one cherished and celebrated.

Mary Jo’s life has always been about nurturing. A dedicated educator, she spent decades shaping young minds at Colquitt County High School, teaching everything from American History to Student Council. Retirement came, then went, as her passion for teaching called her back to the classroom—first working with special education students, then later teaching reading. It wasn’t until 2020—amid a world turned upside down—that she finally stepped away for good. But the heart of a teacher never truly retires.

Being Nana means being present. J.W. remembers it well: “She never missed a golf tournament, baseball game, football game, gymnastics meet, cheer competition, or any other special event or milestone.” Her presence was a quiet anchor, a steady cheer from the sidelines, often with a plate of her famous homemade brownies or a handmade sign in hand—a simple, sweet gesture that said, “I’m here. I see you. I love you.”

But Nana’s love doesn’t stop at her family. In town, she’s simply “Nana” to children of all ages—an ever-present figure in celebrations big and small. Holidays at her house were nothing short of magical: stockings overflowing, gifts piled high, birthdays marked with cake and balloons. As the grandchildren grew, she swapped candy-filled Easter eggs for money-filled ones—a clever twist that kept the joy alive and the egg hunts lively for years.

Generosity is simply part of who Nana is. While she doesn’t get out shopping like she once did—no longer loading her car full of gifts for everyone—she still keeps a running list in her mind, always looking for chances to pick up something special for fellow residents when she’s out with JoBeth. Ron at Al Dixon’s Men’s Shop fondly remembers her as his favorite customer, someone who gave to others even when it wasn’t easy. For Nana, the true joy comes from brightening someone’s day, no matter the cost.

Faith is the quiet strength beneath it all. Prayer life is and has always been a vital part of her life. The gold cross J.W. wears on The Voice—a gift from Nana years ago—is more than jewelry. It’s a symbol of a family grounded in love and spiritual strength. That strength carried her through the loss of her sister Patsy in 1998 and into a new role: guardian of Patsy’s daughter, Lisa. To this day, Lisa—now 63—is surrounded by family love, with Nana making sure she’s included in every holiday tradition, every birthday celebration, even as family gatherings moved from Nana’s house to her daughter JoBeth’s.

Mary Jo’s love speaks in many languages—handmade signs that appeared in the yard or held in the air by Nana’s hands at events for all kinds of occasions, not just birthdays or graduations. Over the years, those signs became such a familiar part of life with Nana that they were almost taken for granted—a quiet backdrop to celebrations and everyday moments. Now, with the signs appearing less often, they have become treasured symbols of her love, stirring a gentle nostalgia for those simple, heartfelt gestures. Alongside this, there’s a tradition born from her days as a teacher: years ago, she asked the construction shop students to craft the first letter of each grandchild’s name and mount them on wooden stakes, which she brought home and placed in the yard. Every Christmas since then, the grandchildren gather outside to stand by their letters for an annual photo—a simple ritual that captures the passing years and the steady love at the heart of the family. These traditions are etched in family memory, treasured reminders of a love that shows up in every corner of life.

Her grandchildren—J.W., Sophie, Wheeler, and Kilby—are bound together not just by blood but by the memories Nana helps create. Trips to Thomasville with J.W. are filled with stops that are as much about connection as routine: Jonah’s for a meal, Rayann’s Christian Bookstore, Al Dixon’s for a quick shirt or two for the boys, The Bookshelf for Sophie’s latest read, and Ally B’s for a treat for Kilby. These outings are threads in a tapestry of love, stitched by Nana’s steady hand.

The relationship between Nana and J.W. is a story in itself—warmth wrapped in teasing words and laughter. “You be careful and come back to see me,” she warns with a wink, “and if you’re not careful, I’m going to beat you up, you understand?” Anyone who sees them together can’t help but smile. Nana barely reaches J.W.’s shoulder, but her presence towers large in his life. Her advice to him? Simple and true: “Make music, but don’t forget to have fun.”

Since moving to Legacy Village about a year and a half ago, Nana has watched J.W. share his music in small, intimate moments—guitar in hand, his voice filling rooms during his visits. Many residents have only recently met J.W., but his growing popularity on The Voice has sparked a new wave of pride and excitement. For this community, his performances are more than music—they are celebrations of family, connection, and the dreams that carry us forward. For Nana, it’s never about the size of the audience. Whether J.W.’s voice carries across a national stage or fills a cozy room at Legacy Village, the real success is in the joy he finds doing what he loves.

As The Voice competition continues, the community holds its breath, united in hope and pride. Through every note J.W. sings, the love and devotion of Mary Jo shines bright—not just for him, but for all her grandchildren. No matter what the future brings, J.W. Griffin has already given us something priceless: music, joy, and a reminder of what family truly means.

And for Mary Jo—Nana, teacher, giver, and heart of her family—the greatest success is seeing all her grandchildren thrive, surrounded by love and faith, and the prayers that have always guided her, just as she has dreamed.

In the quiet moments after a visit, Nana often reflects on the stories her grandchildren will tell one day—stories not just of victories or milestones, but of the love and laughter woven through their lives. It reminds her of a song J.W. wrote, one called “The Dash on the Tombstone.” It’s not about the dates that mark a life’s beginning and end, but the dash—the span in between that holds all the moments, big and small, that define a legacy.

For Mary Jo, that dash is full to bursting. It’s in the school halls where she shaped young minds, in the birthday balloons fluttering in the breeze, in the quiet faith and fierce kindness that ripple through every corner of her family’s story. It’s in the music J.W. shares and the joy Sophie, Wheeler, and Kilby carry forward.

Her legacy isn’t written in grand gestures or fame—it’s in the everyday love that lifts her children and grandchildren, the roots she’s planted deep and steady. And as J.W.’s voice carries beyond the village, so does the spirit of Nana’s heart, a reminder that the dash is what truly matters—and her family’s story is still being written, one beautiful note at a time.

Legacy Village at Park Regency resident Mary Jo Wheeler Taylor was born on December 27, 1942, in Moultrie, Georgia, to Dillye Murphy Wheeler and Joseph W. Wheeler. From the very start, Mary Jo was a small spark of energy—so much so that the neighborhood kids quickly dubbed her “Peanut,” a nickname that stuck. To her family, she’s also known as Mama and Nana, titles she wears with pride and warmth.

Growing up in Moultrie, Mary Jo’s days were filled with simple joys: riding bikes with friends, “racing on her toes,” and gatherings that drew aunts, uncles, and cousins close. One of her fondest memories is a birthday celebration that her parents made extra special. Since her birthday was just two days before Christmas and often lost in holiday bustle, her mama and daddy let her pick a different day to celebrate. Mary Jo chose Halloween, and that year, she had a costume party for all her friends and family—a memory she still treasures.

Faith was woven into Mary Jo’s childhood, and it’s been a guiding thread ever since. She was active at First Baptist Church, where she took part in GA’s (Girls in Action), Acteens, and the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). Tuesdays often found her gathering with friends for prayer groups. Today, she continues her spiritual journey with the community at Legacy Village of Park Regency, her faith as strong and steady as ever.

Family is at the very core of Mary Jo’s heart. She raised two daughters she considers her greatest accomplishment: JoBeth Hunnicutt (Plenn) and Stacy Griffin (John). Over the years, her family grew to include four beloved grandchildren—Wheeler Hunnicutt (Alexis), JW Griffin, Kilby Hunnicutt, and Sophia Griffin. Now, she’s excitedly awaiting her first great-grandchild, a baby girl due on June 3rd. Holidays at Mary Jo’s have always been a big deal. She goes all out for Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving, and years ago started a family tradition that’s now a favorite: the pineapple turkey. Crafted from construction paper, each feather is a place for someone to write what they’re thankful for—a ritual that brings everyone together in gratitude.

Mary Jo devoted 42 years to teaching, and her impact reached far beyond the classroom walls. “I genuinely loved my students and even though I was probably the shortest teacher around, I did not back down and they respected me,” she says with a smile. “I always showed everyone respect, no matter what their background.” Twice honored as Teacher of the Year, she also led the CCHS Student Council. But what she treasures most are the relationships—with students and coworkers alike—that lasted long after the school day ended.

Her love for family is matched only by her enthusiasm for supporting them. Whether it was a baseball game, gymnastics meet, or golf tournament, Mary Jo could always be found front and center, cheering on her grandchildren with boundless energy. She never missed an event, and her brownies became legendary among sports teams—each batch a little slice of her generous spirit.

Mary Jo often says that her biggest blessing is seeing her daughters, their spouses, and her grandchildren all growing into good people who love Jesus and others the way she does. Knowing that her family shares her faith and her values, and that they will all spend eternity together, fills her with peace and gratitude.

These days, Mary Jo still greets each morning with a sense of adventure. She loves playing cards, never shies away from a good game of Bingo, and is always up for joining in the many activities at Legacy VIllage. Her joyful spirit, deep faith, and open heart make her a treasured friend and neighbor—someone you’re proud to know, and even prouder to call family.

If you spend any time at Legacy Village at Park Regency, you’re bound to be touched by the gentle warmth of Ms. Ora Dell Carlton’s presence. Born on July 17, 1929, and raised in Funston, Georgia, her earliest memories are painted with the colors of open fields and the rhythm of farm life. Those days instilled in her a strong work ethic, quiet resilience, and a deep appreciation for simple joys. She often reflects fondly on her childhood—the gatherings with family, the lessons learned through togetherness and hard work, and the sense of belonging that never left her.

At Moultrie High School, Dell stood out not just for her academics, but also for her spirited nature and determination on the basketball court. Teamwork, perseverance, and a bit of friendly competition were woven into her character from an early age.

One of Dell’s favorite stories to share is how she met her husband, Emory Carlton. She tells it as if it happened just yesterday. While working at a jewelry store, Emory, home on a brief visit from the Army, came in to have his watch repaired. What started as a simple conversation quickly turned into love at first sight. Duty soon called Emory away, but the connection they shared never faded. When he returned, he wasted no time in asking Dell to the movies, and a romance began that would blossom into seventy years of marriage—a testament to faith, patience, and enduring love.

Together, Dell and Emory built a life centered on family and service. They raised their son, Tony Carlton, and daughter, Lisa Odum, and later delighted in the lives of their four grandchildren: Dalton, April, Burt Linnenkohl, and Whitt. Family has always been at the heart of Dell’s world, and she takes great pride in the love and memories they’ve shared across the years.

Faith also played a guiding role. Emory served as pastor of Oak Grove Primitive Community Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia, and Dell faithfully served alongside him. Whether she was offering a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing her warm smile, Dell left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her kindness and gentle spirit helped shape not just their church, but the wider community.

Today, as a cherished resident at Legacy Village at Park Regency, Dell continues to bring joy and warmth to those around her. She enjoys art, games, community socials, and especially Bingo—her favorite activity, which she’ll happily tell you with a smile. Whether she’s sharing practical advice or lighting up a room with her welcoming presence, Dell is truly a blessing to all who know her. We are honored to have her as part of our Legacy Village family.

Social connection plays a powerful role in protecting mental and emotional well-being as we age, yet it is often one of the first things to fade when seniors live alone. Changes in health, mobility or daily routine can make it harder to stay socially engaged, leading many older adults to experience isolation without realizing it. Moving into a senior living community like Legacy Village of Park Regency can be a meaningful step toward restoring connection, purpose and a sense of belonging as well as a means to keeping the mind sharp.

One of the greatest benefits of senior living is the built-in opportunity for daily interaction. Instead of relying on occasional visits or scheduled outings, residents are surrounded by peers and team members who become part of everyday life. Shared meals, group activities and casual conversations create natural moments of connection that help seniors feel less alone and more emotionally supported. Friendships formed often become deep and meaningful, offering comfort during both joyful and challenging moments.

Social engagement also supports mental sharpness and emotional resilience. Legacy Village of Park Regency offers structured programs such as musical events, games, classes and creative activities that encourage conversation and learning. These experiences help keep the mind active while providing excitement for the days ahead. For many seniors, having something to look forward to each day makes a meaningful difference in overall outlook.

For families, choosing senior living can bring peace of mind. Knowing a loved one is socially connected and emotionally supported eases concerns about loneliness and isolation. Families often notice positive changes after a move, including improved mood, increased engagement and a renewed sense of joy in their loved one’s daily life.

Ultimately, moving into a senior living community is not about giving something up. It is about gaining connection, companionship and support. By prioritizing social interaction and meaningful relationships, Legacy Village of Park Regency helps seniors protect their mental and emotional health while enjoying a fuller, more connected way of life.

After the busy holiday season, many seniors notice changes in energy levels, mobility or comfort, making the New Year a natural time for families to pause and consider what support will help their loved ones feel their best. New Year care focuses on thoughtful steps that nurture independence, confidence and quality of life throughout the year. For some seniors who may be feeling the effects of aging, a senior living community that emphasizes whole-person wellness, such as Legacy Village of Jacksonville, can offer the right balance of support, connection and peace of mind for both residents and families.

One important part of New Year care is access to therapy services that help seniors maintain strength, balance and independence. Physical and occupational therapy can play a key role in improving mobility, supporting recovery and enhancing daily routines. At Legacy Village, therapy services are coordinated with care teams, making it easier for residents to participate consistently and work toward goals that support long-term wellness.

Pain management is another essential focus as seniors begin the year. Chronic pain can affect more than just physical comfort; it can also impact mood, sleep and overall quality of life. Senior living communities take a comprehensive approach to pain management, combining medical oversight, therapy, movement and comfort-focused strategies. This collaborative care helps ensure concerns are addressed early, allowing residents to remain engaged and comfortable in their daily lives.

Staying active is a powerful way for seniors to support both physical and emotional well-being. Regular movement helps maintain flexibility, strength and balance while also encouraging social connection. At Legacy Village of Jacksonville, residents have access to a variety of opportunities to stay active, from gentle exercise classes and walking groups to wellness programs designed to meet residents where they are. These activities are thoughtfully structured to be safe, enjoyable and empowering.

Equally important to physical care is the social connection that supports mental and emotional wellbeing. Legacy Village offers daily opportunities for meaningful interaction, whether through shared meals, group activities, creative programs or simple conversations with neighbors and team members who truly know each resident. These moments of connection help reduce feelings of isolation, encourage a sense of belonging and bring joy to everyday life.

For families, knowing a loved one is supported by a compassionate team that prioritizes therapy, pain management and active living can provide lasting peace of mind. By focusing on whole-person wellness, Legacy Village of Jacksonville help residents begin the year feeling supported, capable and connected, creating a strong foundation for health and happiness in the months ahead.

Caring for Seniors During the Holidays: Why You Shouldn’t Wait to Make the Move

The holiday season is often filled with family gatherings, joyful traditions and meaningful moments—but for many families caring for an aging loved one, it can also be one of the most stressful times of the year. As routines change and days get busier, meeting the needs of aging parents or grandparents can become more complex, leaving family caregivers feeling stretched thin. While many families consider senior living as a helpful next step, they often hesitate to make the transition before the holidays. Common concerns include the fear that a loved one will feel lonely or abandoned, the worry it will disrupt the season and family traditions, or bring judgment from family and friends. But for many families, waiting may actually increase stress for both seniors and caregivers rather than ease it.

In reality, moving into a senior living community before the holidays can be one of the most supportive decisions a family can make. At Legacy Village at Park Regency, the holidays are filled with festive events, warm social connections and compassionate team members who help residents feel at home quickly. Rather than spending the season stressed and exhausted, families can share more meaningful, quality time together—free from the pressures of caregiving tasks and safety concerns. Legacy Village encourages visits, whether it is at their community or at home for Christmas dinner. Instead of a disruption, the move often brings relief, stability and more joy to everyone involved.

The holidays can also highlight areas where a senior needs additional support: increased confusion in busy environments, difficulty navigating crowded gatherings and challenges with mobility often become more noticeable this time of year. Legacy Village at Park Regency is trained to meet these needs in a way that keeps the season enjoyable. For those with limited mobility, communities offer accessible events, transportation assistance, and safe, thoughtfully designed spaces—ensuring seniors can still participate in the traditions they love. For residents living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, structured activities, sensory-friendly celebrations and predictable daily routines help prevent overstimulation and confusion. These specialized supports help families worry less and give seniors a safer, more comfortable holiday environment.

Christmas-time is already hectic, and many caregivers are already juggling managing medications, preparing meals, assisting with personal care and coordinating doctor’s visits. By moving a loved one into a community before the holiday rush, caregivers gain the gift of rest. Rather than carrying the full weight alone, they can rely on a team of trained professionals who are available around the clock. This relief allows caregivers to enjoy holiday moments more fully—sharing stories over dinner, watching favorite movies together or simply being present without the pressure of caregiving.

It’s also important to remember that the transition into senior living doesn’t erase family traditions—it often enhances them. Families can decorate their loved one’s new apartment together, bring treasured holiday recipes to share or join community events designed to include residents and their families. If your family has been considering senior living but putting it off until the new year, this season may actually be the perfect time to make the move. With compassionate care, festive community life and support tailored to each resident’s needs, Legacy Village at Park Regency can help bring peace, comfort and joy to your loved one and to you.

Moultrie, Ga. (Dec. 2025) — Pearl Collins celebrates her 109th birthday on December 24th as Legacy Village of Park Regency’s oldest resident. In honor of this monumental birthday, Legacy Village and the Moultrie Chamber of Commerce will host a parade on December 16th from 2-3pm. The parade will be at Legacy Village of Park Regency and will be open to the public.

When Ms. Pearl reflects on her life and upbringing, she remembers the joyful simplicity of her life. Ms. Pearl was born in 1916 in Valdosta, Ga., to Eddie and Chason Lineberger. With no nearby neighbors, her farming family was her entire world. She was the youngest of four children and recalls being shielded from most farm chores, but not from her mother’s firm hand. “Mama was the disciplinarian, not daddy,” Ms. Pearl said with a laugh.

Her family raised corn, peanuts and some cotton. Hogs, cows, and chickens rounded out their menagerie and the garden yielded beans, okra, peas, strawberries and sweet potatoes. Looking back, Pearl recalls that her family wasn’t much affected by the Great Depression because they had what they needed right there on the farm.

Ms. Collins has always had a special admiration for music. She adored singing in the front pew of her church at the age of five. Other fond memories include washing clothes on a rub board using homemade lye soap to try and scrub the stains from her father’s and brothers’ white shirts; playing “jump board” at recess—a seesaw-like setup; playing with her baby dolls and the large dollhouse that her closest brother, R.T. made for her. She is proud to have completed her K-12 education at Clyattville School.

Her happiest memories revolve around her marriage to Henry Collins and the joy of raising their three children, Bonnie, Henry and Rita. Henry’s career as a Sergeant took them from Indiana, to Colorado, to North Carolina, and eventually overseas to both Germany and Japan. In every place, Pearl made their house a true home, welcoming not only her children but also their friends, and ensuring each visitor felt like family. She cherished time spent outdoors, encouraging her children to explore nature and teaching them about the world around them, no matter where they’d landed. After Henry’s service ended, the family returned to Valdosta. When Henry died at just 49, Ms. Pearl found herself bearing the full weight of parenthood and her responsibilities didn’t end as her children grew. She held them all close, guiding and supporting each of them through every challenge that followed. “Faith is what got us through,” she states.

Ms. Pearl joined the family at Legacy Village in 2019, at the age of 102, when her late daughter, Bonnie, convinced her to move in with her, and she has been a beloved presence ever since.

“Pearl’s humility is constant. Her love for others and for life is contagious. We are so blessed to have her as a part of the Legacy Village family. We wish her the happiest birthday as she celebrates this milestone birthday this year,” said Keesha McKnight, Executive Director of Legacy Village.

Never expecting to live this long, she attributes her longevity to a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, having grown up eating from the land and never having much fondness for meat. When asked about her favorite part of living at Legacy Village at Park Regency, Ms. Pearl says she loves the staff, the arts and crafts, and of course, Bingo! Ms. Pearl is certainly a gentle heart but a force to be reckoned with!

Bob Branch is more than just a beloved resident—he’s a fixture, a friend, and a living thread woven into the fabric of not only Legacy Village at Park Regency but the wider Moultrie and Sale City communities.

Born in Sale City, Georgia, in neighboring Mitchell County, Bob grew up on his family’s farm surrounded by fields, tractors, and neighbors who all knew each other by name. It was there his lifelong fascination with tractors took root. But Bob’s interest goes far beyond casual admiration—he knows every minute detail that sets one tractor model apart from another. Whether it’s identifying the year, the make, or a subtle design change, Bob’s deep knowledge turns him into a walking encyclopedia of tractors. His enthusiasm is contagious, and a conversation about tractors with Bob quickly becomes a treasured learning experience.

While Bob has called Moultrie home for many years, he remains just as well-known and equally loved in his hometown of Sale City. To know Bob is to know a warm, genuinely friendly spirit. He may show a gentle shyness when meeting new faces at first, but that quickly melts away, revealing a heart eager to connect. He never meets a stranger and welcomes friendship wherever he goes.

One of Bob’s most charming characteristics is his legendary hat collection. Over the years, his apartment has overflowed with hats—so many that team members have lovingly encouraged him (more than once) to share some of these treasures with friends, spreading the happiness those hats brought him, to others in the community.

Bob’s passion shines through every part of his life. He pours himself wholeheartedly into all the activities he loves here at Legacy Village. Arts and crafts sessions are a highlight, where he invests his focus and creativity, and beams with pride when showing off his latest creation. Whether it’s Bingo, dancing, walking, or daily exercise, Bob’s enthusiasm is unmistakable—he’s truly all in, every time.

Bob is also a caring guardian within our community. His attentiveness is well-known; he watches out for fellow residents, noticing when someone might be feeling unwell or not quite themselves, and promptly lets caregivers know to ensure they receive extra support. His kindness adds a protective layer of care that we see and appreciate daily.

His dedication extends beyond the community, especially during football season. Bob is an avid fan of the Colquitt County High School Packers, proudly sporting the team’s black and gold every Friday night. Friends from around town make sure he gets to every home game, so he never misses the thrill and camaraderie of cheering on his beloved team.

Bob also has a natural curiosity and genuine interest in the lives of those around him. He delights in staying connected and informed, not through idle gossip, but because he sincerely cares about his friends and neighbors and thrives on the sense of belonging that being “in the know” gives him.

Family remains at the core of Bob’s heart, especially his sister Lucy. Every year, Bob looks forward to traveling to the Atlanta area for Christmas with her and her family, and to celebrate his birthday on December 29th—a special day he counts down to with great excitement. This time together is deeply important, though his home and heart always call him back to Moultrie—where he’s surrounded by a community that loves him dearly.

And when it comes to community, Bob truly embodies the spirit of being cared for and caring for others. Friends from all walks of life make it their mission to include Bob in special outings, tractor rides, and local events. Around here, it's understood—if Bob would enjoy an event, someone will make sure he’s there. That’s the power of genuine affection and friendship.

At the annual Sunbelt Ag Expo—an event drawing visitors from around the country—Bob is a familiar and cherished presence. Even those who only see him at the Expo once a year remember him clearly and look forward to the warm moment of running into Bob again. There’s just something unforgettable about him, making him a special highlight for everyone who meets him.

Legacy Village at Park Regency, and the towns of Moultrie and Sale City, are richer, warmer, and more vibrant because Bob is part of their story. He reminds us all that friendships can last a lifetime, passion can be pure, and kindness and joy are the glue that hold us together.

Bob’s story isn’t just about one man—it’s about the way one heart can brighten a whole community. Once you meet Bob, you carry a piece of his joy with you.

Moultrie, Ga. (Nov. 2025) — At Legacy Village at Park Regency, the health and safety of our residents and team members is our highest priority. As part of our commitment to providing a clean, healthy, and supportive environment, we have replaced traditional cleaning chemicals with a safer, more sustainable solution.

Legacy Village at Park Regency has partnered with Viking Pure Solutions, a leader in non-toxic cleaning technologies, to bring innovative, hospital-grade cleaning and disinfecting to our community. Viking Pure installs on-site systems that generate powerful cleaning and disinfecting solutions using only salt, water, and electricity. This process creates electrolyzed water: a safe, fragrance-free, and highly effective alternative to conventional chemicals.

Unlike many commercial cleaning products, Viking Pure’s solutions are free from harmful ingredients linked to respiratory issues, endocrine disruption, and other health concerns that disproportionately affect older adults. Their disinfectant is EPA-registered as hospital grade and proven to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses, including norovirus and COVID-19, without the risks associated with harsh chemicals.

Bryan Cook, Co-Founder and President of Legacy Senior Living, states, “Our residents deserve the safest environment possible.

Moultrie, Ga. (Sept 2025) — Legacy Village at Park Regency will be hosting a free and public event on September 23 at 5:30 pm, featuring Dr. Ron Harvard who acts as Legacy Village’s Director of Alzheimer’s Support. In addition to a Meet & Greet, Dr. Harvard will be presenting a talk titled, “Walking Victoriously Through the Long Goodbye.”

Legacy Village’s Alzheimer’s Support Services is a resource designed for family members, team members and community partners who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Dr. Harvard has led this complimentary resource since early 2024, providing that extra support to families and caregivers who are navigating the pressures of caring for a loved one with memory loss.

As a pastor, counselor, college professor and primary caregiver to his late wife, Linda, who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 20 years, Dr. Harvard brings many years of experience to this program.

“For nearly 20 years, I watched as Dementia/Alzheimer’s moved from being an insignificant inconvenience to a disease that robbed the love of my life of her memory, personality and eventually contributed to her death,” states Dr. Harvard. “Determined to find a cure and keep her in my world, and sparing no expense and effort, I took her to the finest doctors and searched through all available research. Coming to grips with the futility of my approach, I developed a framework that focused on her comfort and my survival: ‘Walking Victoriously Through the Long Goodbye,” grew out of a foundational belief that pain is inevitable but misery is optional,” he continues.

The event will be held at Legacy Village at Park Regency from 5:30-7:00 pm and is free and open to the public. There will be opportunity to meet with Dr. Harvard as well as refreshments and tours available.

Dan Keyes was born and raised in the charming little town of Cobb, Wisconsin. He loved the small town life and has fond memories growing up with his three brothers and sister. Dan and his brothers worked as paperboys, which ensured their familiarity with their hometown and its residents. They also loved to play sports together, such as basketball, baseball, and football. Dan’s love for sports and his siblings’ support helped him get recruited out of high school to play basketball for the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

Dan went on to double major in Business and Economics. He thrived at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, being successful both academically and socially. He is still close with friends from his college days. Dan believes his small-town upbringing and desire for success helped greatly with these achievements. After earning his degree, Dan moved to the bustling city of Madison, Wisconsin. In Madison, Dan had a successful career, working for companies such as Rural Insurance.

After his school days, Dan continued to root for his university’s team, the U.W. Badgers. In years past, people had gifted him tickets to see Badgers’ games in person, and he decided to pay it forward to others in his adulthood. Dan has a deep love for the city of Madison, but he also came to love Chicago, a city he traveled to often. Dan enjoyed exploring Chicago and got to be familiar with many local businesses there. He also loved to travel the world, taking his daughters, Kelly and Nicki, so they could learn new perspectives through travelling.

Dan has become a beloved resident at Renaissance Senior Living of Hilldale. He has an incredible sense of humor and great advice on business and economics, making him a fun conversationalist for elevator rides. We look forward to many more elevator chats with Dan at Renaissance!

June Nation was born on June 4, 1941 in Moultrie, Georgia where she grew up with her parents and three siblings: Mamic, Barbara and Ronald. Her fondest memories with her family were the annual Christmas Eve dinners they would have. After graduating from high school in 1959, she went on to earn her degree in Secretarial Science.

June married her husband, Charles, in the 1960s, and they have lived happily together ever since. Together they raised two children, Heather Rebecca and Sunny Farrah. Her children gave her three lovely grandchildren, Rebecca, Sunny Farrah and Pierce Michael.

In her spare time, June sings with the adult choir and attends church at First Baptist Moultrie. Outside of choir, June loves to read, bake, do puzzles and play bingo and board games.

Bryan Harrell was born on September 11, 1986 in Moultrie, Georgia where he was raised as an only child by his loving mother, Vicki Harrell. Bryan cherishes the many special memories his mom created for him, especially around Halloween and Christmas.

Bryan was very involved in his church growing up and throughout his life. He frequently served as a sound and tech man, and is known for his spicy BBQ. He also served the church by assisting during Vacation Bible School and with Operation Christmas Child.

One of Bryan’s many joys is gaming. Having started off playing Mario on the Super Nintendo, Bryan has since been hooked. He also greatly enjoys Anime movies and shows. But if there is one passion that surpasses them all, it is extreme weather tracking. Severe weather posed no threat to Bryan who loved to chase storms, so much so, that he has been struck by lightning three times in his life.

Bryan has been a resident at Legacy Village of Park Regency since May 2022, and he loves to join in during Bingo and for a good game of cards.

James “Jimmy” Moore was born and raised in Greensboro, Georgia by his parents Jack and Myrtle and with his two siblings. He recalls birthdays being really special as his mother would make a cake and holidays would mean getting together with family.

Upon graduating high school, Jimmy joined the Army where he served as a Topographic Surveyor in Korea and the US for three years. He would continue on as a Surveyor and Desk Worker for 20 years upon leaving the Army, but his time in the Korean mountains was both his favorite landscape to work with and highlight of his career.

Jimmy’s proudest achievement, however, is having the joy of raising his two children, Leigh and Don, with his beloved wife, Cheri. His family is the most important thing for him, and he loves visiting his family, including his grandchildren, Logan, Hayden and John David.

Jimmy was an active member of his church, First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, having served as an Elder, and he still spends many hours reading his Bible. His favorite hobbies included hunting and fishing, but anything that involved spending time with family, such as cooking and traveling, was his kind of fun.

Julie Van Ham was born in England to Connie and William. She and her siblings, Janet and John, had an eventful childhood, as the beginning of their lives were directly influenced by World War II. Julie distinctly remembers that the smog was so thick she could not see her own hand in front of her, and that some days they had to burn coal to keep warm. One of her favorite childhood memories was the end of the war. Julie moved to the United States in her twenties and lived primarily in Clearwater, Florida.

Julie successfully graduated with a high school diploma and received an Associate’s Degree in Administration from college. She moved on to have a long and lively career as a church administrator. She was heavily involved in the organization of Episcopal Church Women (ECW). She also worked as an administrator for a company called Honeywell, where they made military helmets. One of her biggest accomplishments in her career is passing the security clearances for this position.

Ms. Bueris Crumpton was born in Mitchell County, Georgia, and raised in Cook County. Growing up during a time when high school education only went up to the 11th grade, she completed her schooling before marrying the love of her life, Woodrow Crumpton. Mr. Woodrow served our country during World War II, while Ms. Bueris remained at home caring for their two sons, Michael and Roger. Sadly, Mr. Woodrow passed away in 2022, a loss deeply felt by the family.

Recently celebrating a remarkable milestone, her 101st birthday, Ms. Bueris considers living to be over 100 her greatest achievement. She stated humbly, “The Lord has given me a long, wonderful life.” Her wisdom and gratitude shine through as she reflects on the blessings she’s received.

Pamella “Kenille” Hurst was born on May 9, 1964 to Earl and Eunice Tatum in Hartsfield, Georgia, where she spent her childhood with her two sisters, Sheila and Robin. She married her husband, David Hurst, when she was 18 years old, but they never strayed too far away from family. Living in Norman Park and Scooterville for periods of time, Kenille and David had a happy 41-year marriage before he passed in March 2024. They had the joy of raising two amazing children, Candace and Mark. The Hursts endured the life-long tragedy of burying their son, Matthew, Candace’s twin, who was born stillborn.

Linda Johnson was born in 1947 in Omega, Georgia, to Joe and Nerrene Dorman Evans. As one of 11 children, she grew up in a lively household filled with love, laughter, and, of course, a little mischief. One of her fondest childhood memories involves playfully scaring her younger siblings—she would spray lighter fluid on the ground, set it on fire and dramatically declare that “hell had broken loose” and the devil was on his way! Her siblings may not have found it quite as amusing at the time, but looking back, it’s one of those stories that still brings a smile to her face.

After high school, Linda pursued her passion for beauty and creativity by enrolling in cosmetology school. Throughout her life, she has embraced a wide variety of interests. In her younger years, she loved dancing, baking, sewing, playing games and feeling the wind in her hair while riding in convertibles. These days, her hobbies have shifted, but she remains just as active. She enjoys crocheting, working on word finds and puzzles, and spending time playing Bingo with friends. An early riser by nature, Linda believes in starting the day fresh and bright, preferring to go to bed early so she can wake up ready to take on a new day.

Linda has had a diverse and fulfilling career, working in many different roles over the years. She has worked as a waitress, cook, stocker, bus driver, and pre-K teacher. Linda spent many years working in a factory, where she developed a strong work ethic and resilience. She also participated in the Eastern Star Women’s Club, where she formed lifelong friendships and contributed to her community. However, out of all her accomplishments, she is most proud of earning her GED and cosmetology license—both of which were significant milestones in her life.

Faith and family have always been an important part of Linda’s journey. As the wife of a preacher, Steve, she devoted much of her time to serving others and being an active member of her church, Antioch Baptist. They raised three children, Angela, Donna and John. One of her greatest joys is spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always bring laughter and happiness into her life.

When asked about her favorite part of living at Legacy Village at Park Regency, Linda says she loves playing Bingo with her friends and cherishes the sense of community she has found here. Her warmth, humor, and kind spirit make her a treasured part of our Legacy family, and we are so grateful to have her with us!

Gloria Rogers was born in September 1932 to John and Irene Hatcher in Doerun, Georgia. She has fond childhood memories of playing with her brother Roy, and sisters, Betty and Twila, especially when they visited their grandparents and got to play in the woods.

Gloria met the love of her life and husband of 42 years, Roy Rogers, when she was quite young. They started a family having five children, Dennis, Mark, Melanie, Suzanne and Margie. Now the pride of her life, Gloria’s family has grown to 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite memories are of times when the family would gather together for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at her daughter’s home.

Despite having five children, Gloria was still able to complete college, and she took a position as a Secretary for Riverside Manufacturing, working there for 15 years. She then took a position as a Secretary for the Board of County Commissioner for Colquitt County, where she enjoyed doing the payroll for the County until she retired in 2009. Gloria is also an accomplished pianist, having played for her church, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Doerun. Had life turned out differently, Gloria says she would have pursued piano more.

Gloria became a resident at Legacy Village at Park Regency in June 2016. She loves playing bingo, but she mostly enjoys the fellowship she has with the other residents.

Ms. Collins was born into a farming family in 1916, in Valdosta, Georgia. Growing up in the countryside, her parents and siblings were her entire world. She is proud to have completed her K-12 education at Clyattville School. Ms. Collins remembers attending church just once a month, as the minister rotated among different congregations. Some of her earliest memories involve singing in the front pew of her church and washing clothes on a rub board using homemade soap made from hog cracklings. She recalls taking castor oil when she was sick and the excitement of her family’s first radio. Among her cherished childhood gifts was a large doll that she adored.

Upon reflection on her life, her happiest memories revolve around her marriage to Henry Collins and the joy of raising their children, Bonnie, Henry and Rita. Mr. Collins served as a Sergeant in the military, and the family moved often. Ms. Collins made it her mission to make each new house a home. She treasures her family deeply and made it a mission to always welcome her children’s friends as well. A nature enthusiast, she made sure her children spent a lot of time outside, teaching them about nature and the great outdoors. Ms. Collins also has the joy of being grandmother to two grandchildren.

Legacy Senior Living and Dominion Senior Living to Offer New Alzheimer’s Support Services Headed by Dr. Ronald Harvard

Legacy Senior Living is excited to announce a new Alzheimer's Support Service to families caring for loved one's with memory loss disorders.

Cleveland, Tenn. (Feb. 2024) — Legacy Senior Living and Dominion Senior Living, a family of senior living communities serving the Eastern United States, are excited to announce Alzheimer’s Support Services, a new program for both companies. This is a free service that is designed to give support and resources to families and caregivers who are navigating the pressures of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other memory loss conditions.

Dr. Ronald Harvard has come aboard as the Director of Alzheimer’s Support Services. As a pastor, counselor, college professor and primary caregiver to his late wife, Linda, who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 20 years, Dr. Harvard brings many years of experience to this new program. At various times, Dr. Harvard has served his alma mater, Lee University, as a faculty member in the psychology department, as Director of Counseling, and as an adjunct faculty member at Lee Online. He and Linda also served as senior pastor at churches in Florida, Indiana, and Georgia.

With degrees in Biblical Studies, Social Psychology, and Pastoral Counseling, Dr. Harvard’s love for teaching and counseling have defined his life, but no more so than the love of his life, Linda, and their four children.

Dr. Harvard’s introduction to Alzheimer’s was personal and very painful. In the fall of 2003, Dr. Harvard recognized the beginning signs of memory loss in his late wife, Linda. Fifteen years later, Linda became a resident of a Legacy Senior Living community, The Harbor at Legacy Village of Cleveland. In May of 2023, Linda passed away. Dr. Harvard chronicled his struggles and victories in his blog, “Dementia: walking victoriously through the ‘Long Goodbye,’” offering lessons learned, meditations, and comfort to many.

“What became clear to me during the process of loving Linda through the battle of Alzheimer’s, was that I was being prepared to minister to families going through similar situations. My mission in leading this new Alzheimer’s Support Service is to provide behavioral insights, practical direction and comfort through support groups and one-on-one meetings,” said Dr. Harvard.

“This is a program that we are so excited to offer to families that are struggling with the challenges of memory loss. We are eager to welcome Dr. Harvard to this position as he supports other family members and caregivers navigating this overwhelming season,” said Barry Ray, CEO and Co-Founder of Legacy Senior Living.

Pearl Collins was born in Valdosta, Ga. to a farming family. Her parents, two brothers, and sister were her world as she grew up in the country, but she was able to complete all K-12th grades at Clyattville School. She recalls attending church only once a month as their minister was rotated between different churches in the area.

One of Pearl’s earliest memories was singing in front of her church when she was 5 years old, but she also recalls washing clothes on a rub board with homemade soap from hog cracklings. She remembers having to take castor oil whenever she was sick and when her family got their first radio. Her favorite present as a child was a big doll which she adored. But Pearl’s happiest memories consist of her marriage to Henry Collins and the births of her children. She loves her family.

Moultrie, Ga. (Oct. 2023) — Legacy Village at Park Regency, a luxury assisted living and memory care community, invited Colquitt County High School’s JROTC to perform a Flag Retirement Ceremony to retire their old flag and raise a new one. Legacy Village at Park Regency is home to many veterans and was much enjoyed by all the residents who attended.

(MOULTRIE, Ga.) — Leslie Arredondo has been named the company-wide Legacy Champion 2021 of Legacy Senior Living, which operates a family of senior living communities throughout the Eastern US specializing in independent living, assisted living and Alzheimer’s care services.

The Going the Extra Mile program is a distinguishing hallmark of Legacy customer service. Based on the Bible scripture passage Matthew 5:41 which states, “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles...” and the program encourages residents, family members and employees to nominate team members who have performed exceptionally well in a specific scenario. The program committee reviews nominations each quarter, selecting a winner who receives a special parking space, a personalized plaque in the lobby and a $100 cash prize. The annual winner receives a $500 prize. The selected company-wide Legacy Champion then receives an award of $1,000 and is featured in the annual

“We are proud of Leslie and the role that she has taken on as a caregiver at Legacy Village at Park Regency,” said Legacy Senior Living Co-Founder and CEO, Barry Ray. “Leslie has shown us that she lives the mission of Legacy Senior Living and serves the Greatest Generation with honor, respect, faith, and integrity. We are thankful to have her on our team”

Arredondo, who joined the Legacy Village at Park Regency team just a year ago, displays exemplary dedication to the residents, their families and other team members. Her peers quickly saw that she had a remarkable calling for this work.

“Leslie goes out of her way to make the residents feel special,” said Amanda Howell, RN and Clinical Executive Director at Legacy Village at Park Regency. “Since starting with us, she has taken residents out to eat on her day off because she learned that a resident wanted Mexican food. She’s applied makeup on residents to lift their spirits. There are so many more examples that I could provide of how she selflessly cares for our residents.”

Leslie was surprised with the Legacy Champion honor at the end of April during a visit from Ray, and Co-Founder and President Bryan Cook.

“Miss Leslie Arredondo is an example of our tradition of excellence. We applaud her dedication to serving the Greatest Generation and thank her for going above and beyond in all that she does. We are grateful to have Leslie as a part of our team serving our residents selflessly as she has been proven to do,” said Cook.

The Legacy Champion is chosen annually from Legacy Senior Living’s quarterly Going The Extra Mile winners. Each facility winner is chosen from the entries submitted by residents, families, and team members. At the end of each year, one winner is chosen from each facility and is nominated for the Legacy Champion award. The nominee’s story is shared with the Legacy Senior Living support center office where a team reads each of the nominations, but without knowing who the person is or which facility they work for. A winner is selected from the 14 facility nominations.

MOULTRIE, Ga. (Jan 6, 2021) – Legacy Village at Park Regency, a premier assisted living and memory care community serving Colquitt County, Ga., presented Georgia Christian School with a special $1,105 gift in the name of resident Pearl Collins, in honor of her 105th birthday on Dec. 28.

Barry Ray and Bryan Cook, founders of Legacy Village at Park Regency’s parent organization, Legacy Senior Living, traveled to Moultrie from its headquarters in Cleveland, Tenn., to participate in a special birthday celebration held at the assisted living community in Collins’ honor. Collins is the oldest resident of all Legacy Senior Living’s 15 assisted living and memory care communities.

Collins, who served for many years as a manager of school cafeterias, was celebrated with a parking lot parade featuring community members, fire and police officials. So touched by the spirit of Collins, Ray and Cook wanted to honor her through a donation in her name to a dining services program at the school of her choice. Collins promptly chose Georgia Christian School in Dasher, from which her younger daughter, Rita, graduated.

“At Legacy Senior Living, our motto is, ‘life, love, legacy,’ and we cannot think of anyone who embodies this more than Ms. Pearl. It was an honor to join in this celebration, and we are thrilled to present this gift that will help Georgia Christian School continue to impact the lives of its students in a special way. Thank you, Ms. Pearl, for allowing our team at Legacy Village at Park Regency to love and care for you, and for the joy you bring to Moultrie,” Cook said.

Georgia Christian School President Brad Lawson met Ms. Pearl Collins at Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie on Tuesday, January 4th to receive the gift in her name.

“It was such an honor to meet Ms. Pearl and thank her personally for remembering Georgia Christian School with the donation from Legacy. Even though her youngest daughter, Rita, graduated in 1971, knowing she wanted to help another generation get a Christian education is so heartwarming. Ms. Pearl is an inspiration to all who know her, and we'll be telling her story for years to come,” said Lawson.

Additionally, during Collins’ birthday celebration, Wertz surprised Collins, who is a Georgia native, with a commendation from Gov. Brian Kemp and Moultrie Mayor Bill McIntosh proclaimed her birthday, Dec. 24, 2021, as “Pearl Collins Day” in Moultrie.

Collins, a mother of three and grandmother of two, has shared a two-bedroom apartment with her oldest daughter, Bonnie, at Legacy Village at Park Regency since 2019.
