Resident Spotlight

Julie Van Ham was born in England to Connie and William. She and her siblings, Janet and John, had an eventful childhood, as the beginning of their lives were directly influenced by World War II. Julie distinctly remembers that the smog was so thick she could not see her own hand in front of her, and that some days they had to burn coal to keep warm. One of her favorite childhood memories was the end of the war. Julie moved to the United States in her twenties and lived primarily in Clearwater, Florida.

Julie successfully graduated with a high school diploma and received an Associate’s Degree in Administration from college. She moved on to have a long and lively career as a church administrator. She was heavily involved in the organization of Episcopal Church Women (ECW). She also worked as an administrator for a company called Honeywell, where they made military helmets. One of her biggest accomplishments in her career is passing the security clearances for this position.

Julie met her late husband, Anthony, at church who was a pastor. The two of them had a happy 20-year marriage. Together they had three lovely children, Karen, Kristina and Mathew.

Julie has been an active member at Legacy Village at Park Regency since her arrival. She loves to go on walks, play bingo, knit, sew and do embroidery. Julie loves the sense of security and various daily activities Legacy Village provides.

To meet Jeanette is to feel right at home. Her laughter has a way of brightening even the quietest corners of Legacy Village at Park Regency, where she and her husband, Jerry, have made a comfortable life together in Moultrie, Georgia.

Mother’s Day is a time to recognize the steady, often quiet work of caring for others. For many, mothers are the first example of what it means to nurture.
